                                        CHAP.  LXXVIII.
An Act for the relief of Susan Rouse, of Caroline County.   Lib. TH.
                                            No. 4, fol. 101.

Levy authorised
for her support.
    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Caroline county be and they are
hereby authorised and directed, to assess and levy on the assessable
property of said county, so long as they shall see cause, a sum
of money not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support and maintenance
of Susan Rouse, and that the same be collected and paid annually
to the aforesaid Susan Rouse, or her order, by the collector
of said county, agreeably to the order of the levy court aforesaid.

†  Ch. 42.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Edward Owings, senior, Eli Brashears, Jesse Wright, Samuel
Hobbs, of Samuel, and Benjamin Murdock, be and they are hereby
appointed commissioners for the purposes of this act, and that
they, or a majority of them, be and they are hereby authorised
and empowered to view and assess the damages, if any, which in
their judgment the said Nicholas Hall shall have sustained by the
locating and making of a road through his lands, which was laid
out in pursuance of an act passed at November session eighteen 
hundred and eight †, entitled, An act to open and establish a road
from near the old glass works called New Bremen, in Frederick
county, to intersect the Baltimore and Frederick-town turnpike
road, at the town of New-Market in the said county, and that the
said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall make out, and
return under their hands and seals a fair valuation of the damages
aforesaid to the levy court of Frederick county, who shall assess
and levy the same on the assessable property of said county, to be
collected as other public assessments are collected, and paid over
to the said Nicholas Hall, his executors, administrators or assigns.
Commissions to
take an oath.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners before
they act as such shall take an oath before some justice of the peace,
that they will without favour or affection, prejudice or partiality,
execute the powers vested in them by this act.

Not lawful to erect
pots or other devices
for taking of
fish in Susquehanna.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it shall not be lawful for any person or persons to erect pots, or
other devices, in the river Susquehanna, for taking of fish, whereby
the slats in the bottom thereof shall be more than one and an half
inch wide, or any two of them shall be put or placed closer together
than three quarters of an inch, with the square edges taken off,
so as to round the top of the same, to prevent the destruction of
