Amount of capital

opened for subscriptions.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
a bank shall be established in the city of Baltimore, the original
capital stock whereof shall be one million five hundred thousand
dollars, and shall be divided into sixty thousand shares of twenty-five 
dollars each, and that subscriptions towards constituting the
said stock, shall on the first Monday of March next be opened at
the city of Baltimore, for the city and county of Baltimore, for
thirty-four thousand four hundred shares, under the superintendance
of Robert Patterson, Charles Gwinn, John Hoffman, Henry
Didier, jun. Samuel Hollingsworth, William Pinkney, George J.
Brown, Samuel G. Griffith, Levin Wethered, Robert Barry, William
H. Dorsey, James Barroll, Richard Frisby, John McKim,
jun. Thomas Ellicott, Govert Haskins, John Donnell, James Sterrett,
Peter A. Karthaus and Samuel Chase.

Shares received
for the different
counties and state.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That thirty-one thousand and six
hundred shares of the said stock be reserved for the use of the citizens
of the several counties of this state, to wit:  Harford county,
twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. John
Moores, Henry Dorsey and John Sanders; Cecil county, for twelve
hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. Lambert
Beard, Samuel Hayes and James Janney; Kent county, for twelve
hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. Thomas
Worrell, William Barroll and Benjamin Chambers; Talbot county,
for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs.
John Goldsborough, John Meredith and James Ringgold; Queen
Anne's county, for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance
of Messrs. Richard Goldsborough, Richard Hayward
and James Chaplain; Somerset county, for twelve hundred
shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. John Stewart, George
W. Jackson, and Thomas Bayly; Worcester county, for twelve
hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. Ephraim K.
Wilson, Joshua Prideaux and John S. Martin; Saint Mary's county,
for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs.
John R. Plater, Gereard Newton Causin and Enoch J. Millard;
Prince George's county, for twelve hundred shares, under the
superintendance of Messrs. John Hodges, (of Thomas,) George
Calvert and William B. Beanes; Calvert county, for twelve hundred
shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. Peter Emerson,
Michel Taney, sen. and Joseph Ireland; Anne-Arundel county,
for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs.
Henry Maynadier, Lewis Duvall and William H. Marriott; Montgomery
county, for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance
of Messrs. Barnard Gilpin, Upton Beall and Thomas P. Wilson;
Frederick county, for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance
of Messrs. George Baer, John Hanson Thomas, John
McPherson, John Grahame and Richard Brook; Washington county,
for twelve hundred shares, under the superintendance of Messrs.
John Schnebly, Frisby Tilghman, William Heyser, Martin Kershner
and Alexander Neill; Allegany county, for twelve hundred
shares, under the superintendance of Messrs. William McMahon,
Beal Howard and Roger Perry; Caroline county, for twelve hundred
shares, under the superintendance of William Richardson,
