passed at November session in the year one thousand eight 
hundred and eight*, entitled, An additional supplement to the act
to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over Chester river,
at Chester-town, proposed a scheme of a lottery to raise ten thousand
dollars, to be applied towards erecting said bridge, and have
found it impracticable to sell and dispose of said tickets, and have
prayed that they may be permitted to propose a scheme and draw
the lottery in the city of Baltimore:  And whereas it is desirable to
encourage such public improvements, therefore,

CHAP. 62.

Ch. 53.

    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Joseph H. Nicholson, John Hollins, Benjamin Ricaud, Henry W.
Dinsmore, John Swan, Samuel Briscoe, Solomon Betts, Isaac Purnell,
Richard Frisby and John Wallis, be and they are hereby appointed
commissioners, who, or a majority of them, in conjunction
with the commissioners of Kent and Queen-Anne's county, be and
they are hereby authorised to propose a scheme of a lottery,
agreeably to the provisions of the last recited act, to raise the sum
of fifteen thousand dollars, clear of all expenses, to be applies towards
erecting said bridge, as by said act is directed and provided,
and to draw the same in the city of Baltimore, without being subject
to pay any charge or tax to the city of Baltimore, any law or
ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.
Lottery authorised.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners appointed
in the city of Baltimore, shall give bond to the state of Maryland,
(which bond shall be recorded in the clerk's office of Baltimore
county,) in the same penalty, and on the same terms and conditions,
as is prescribed in the aforesaid act for the commissioners of
Kent and Queen-Anne's county; and the monies arising from said
lottery shall be applied agreeably to the provisions of the said act.

                                      CHAP. LXIII.
An Act to lay out and make public a Road therein mentioned in Cecil
                        County.

Passed Dec. 14.
    WHEREAS sundry respectable inhabitants of Cecil county have
preferred a petition to this general assembly, praying that a road
may be opened and laid out in said county; and the prayer of the
petitioners appearing reasonable, therefore,
Preamble.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Samuel Hayes, John Pittner, John Gibbons, Levi Tyson and William
Hollingsworth, jun. be and they are hereby appointed commissioners
for the purposes of this act, and that they, or a majority
of them, are hereby authorised and required to survey and lay
out a wagon road, not exceeding forty feet in width, beginning
on the public road leading from Elkton to New London cross
roads, at or near a school-house called Union School-House, in
New Munster, thence running northwardly until it intersects the
Pennsylvania line, near the lane leading from the dwelling house
of John Jordon, and in a direction for Septamas Evans's limekilns
in Pennsylvania; Provided always, that the said road shall
not be made to pass through the buildings, yards, gardens or
orchards, of any person, without the consent of the owner or owners
thereof.

aforesaid, or or before the first day of May next, to
