                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

                                        CHAP. CLXVIII.
An Act authorising the raising a sum of money to complete the Court-House,
    and to erect a Watch-House, in the City of Baltimore.

Levy authorised.     1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Baltimore county, be and they are hereby authorised
and required, to assess and levy, upon the assessable property
of said county, in such successive annual instalments, any
sum not exceeding twenty thousand dollars annually, as they may
from time to time think proper, as well for the payment of any
debts or expenses heretofore contracted or incurred, as for the raising
such sums as may be hereafter necessary for the finishing and
completing the new court-house in the city of Baltimore, the first
instalment to be assessed by the said court at their first session
after the passage of this act for the purpose of laying the county
levy, and to be collected by the collector of said county.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the justices of the levy court of
Baltimore county be and they are hereby authorised to sell and convey
to the mayor and city council of Baltimore, and their successors, 
such part of the public ground appropriated to the said new
court-house as in their judgment shall be necessary for building
thereon a watch-house, and the money arising from the said sale
shall be appropriated to the use of the county.
May rent out cellars.     3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said levy court may from
time to time rent out such part of the cellars under the new court-house
aforesaid, as they shall consider and deem not to be necessary
for the use of the said house, or the officers connected therewith,
and apply the money arising therefrom to the use of the county.
Acts inconsistent
with this, repealed.
    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all acts or parts of acts of assembly
contrary to, or inconsistent with, this act, shall be and the
same are hereby repealed.

An Act for the benefit of Samuel Wright, of the City of Baltimore.

Benefit of insolvent
laws extended
to him.

 

*  CH. 110.

    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
judges of Baltimore county court, or any judge thereof, be and
they are hereby authorised and directed to extend to Samuel Wright,
of the city of Baltimore, the benefit of an act of assembly passed
at November session, eighteen hundred and five*, entitled, An
act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors, and the supplementary
acts thereto, without compelling the said Samuel Wright to produce
the assent of two-thirds of his creditors as is required by said
act, and the several supplements thereto, notwithstanding any deed
the said Samuel Wright may have given of any of his property for
the security of any creditor or creditors.
