                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

on a direction towards George-town, in such manner as
they may apprehend most beneficial to the public, without having
any regard to the restriction contained in the said law to cross
Rock Creek not less than three miles above George-town, and the
commissioners named in the said law, or a majority of them, are
hereby authorised to open subscription books at such times and
places as they may think proper, and to receive subscriptions in
addition to those already subscribed, and when five hundred shares
of the said stock shall be subscribed, to call a meeting of the subscribers
in order to organize the company agreeably to the act to
which this is a supplement, any thing in the said act to the contrary
notwithstanding.

An Act for the relief of William Caton, of the City of Annapolis.

laws extended
to him.

    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the judges of Anne-Arundel county, or any one of them, be and
they are hereby authorised and directed, to extend to William Caton,
of the city of Annapolis, the benefit and relief of the act of
assembly passed at November session, eighteen hundred and five*,
entitled, An act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors, and the
supplementary acts thereto, without compelling the said William
Caton to produce any evidence of his having resided in the state
of Maryland for the two years last previous to his application for
the benefit thereof, in the same manner as if he had actually resided
within this state agreeably to the provisions of the said act
and the supplementary acts thereto.

Passed Dec. 24.                                       CHAP. XCIX.
An Act to provide for the building a Bridge over Big Pipe Creek, in
                Frederick County.

Levy authorised
for building bridge.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Frederick county shall and may,
at any time within two years from the passage of this act, levy
upon the taxable property in said county a sum of money not exceeding
five hundred dollars, for the purpose of building a bridge
over Big Pipe Creek in the said county, at the fording place on
said creek, where the road commonly called the New Baltimore
Road leading from Taney-town, in the county aforesaid, to the city
of Baltimore, crosses said creek.
Bridge to be erected.     2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the justices aforesaid shall, as
soon as conveniently may be after the levying of the money aforesaid,
cause a bridge to be erected over the said stream at the place
aforesaid, in such manner as the said justices shall think most advantageous
for the public, and the sum of money so as aforesaid
to be levied, or so much thereof as may be necessary for that purpose,
shall be applied to the payment of the expense of erecting
said bridge.
