Henry: Hall. Plt. Somerset County Ss. John: Jones of Mattapony hundred in this County was attached
to
agt. Answer unto Henry: Hall of the same County Planter in an action upon the Case &c.
Jno. Jones: Dft. And whereupon the plt by his Attorney: James: Sangster Comes & Sayes, that the dft
- - - - - - - is become & Stands indebted unto the plt in the full and just Sum of nine hundred
and
five pounds of tobacco in Caske for Certain goods and Comodities by the Deft recd, as doth more fully appear by accot &
here in Court produced, which sd Sum, the deft did faithfully assume & promise to Satisfie & pay to the plt but not
withstanding of the sd assumption, the dft fraudulently & craftily intending to deceive the plt of the foresd Sum
of 905lb. of tobacco, the Same hath denyed, and yet doth deny, to the plts great losse and damage to the value of 1810lb=
Pounds of like tobacco, and hereupon brings this Suite &c. Ja: Sangster. pr Quer
pled Jno. Doe
Rich: Roe
And the dft Saith that he is not indebted unto the plt in manner and forme as the plt declareth and thereupon
puts himself upon the Court. Edward Jones

Execcutors Admrs. or Assigns to pay unto Samuel: Alexander of Animessex in the sd County or his
Order
the full Sum of eleaven hundred pounds of good Sound Merchantable tobacco in Cask upon demand
according to Act of Assembly. As wittness my hand and Seal this 11th: day of January 1687/8.
