157 At a Court of Adjournment held by their Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset in the Province of Maryland the 29th. day of September in the 3d. yeare their Maties Reign Ano. Domi 1691. C Comissioners C Coll. David Browne. mr. ffrancis: Jenckins. Majr Robert. King mr. James Present in Court were Dashiels. mr. James: Round. mr Samuel: Hopkins. mr Ge.Layfield mr Edmd:Howard - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mr. Edmund. Beauchamp late Clerk of this County having power from an Assembly held at St. Maries to make choise of an asistant or Deputy Clerk in regard to his age and defitiency, and therefore did / upon the fifth day of November Anno. Domini 1689: present to the Justices for his Deputy Clerk John: West of this County, who was well approved on by sd Justices, and Sworn before them Deputy Clerk as appears upon Record in Lib B.W. folio 7. & 8. B The aforesd mr Edmund Beauchamp departing this life upon the 26th: day of this instant September. and this day to witt ye 29th. of 7ber Anno Domini 1691: the Justices in Court Sitting. have Ordered the sd John:West Clerk of this County Court. &c. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - Mary. Justices of the Peace for this County of Somerset the Petion of John: ffine humbly sheweth C That whereas your Petioner was bound to the good behaviour and hath appeared every Court Since having behaved my Self peaceably and quietly as a Loyal and dutifull Subject, yr humble Petioner Craves your worps would be pleased that your Petioner may have up his Bonds & yr. Petioner as in duty bound shall ever pray. &c. Which Petion being by the Court Considered was by their worps granted Somerset County Ss. - - - - - John: Winder.To the high sheriffe of this County Greeting. These are in their Maties Names to charge you that you receive into your Custody the body of Judith: Downe. taken by James: Givins of this County & by him brought before me for burning Thomas:Gordins house, and that you Saifly keep the sd Judith Downe in Safe Custody untill next Court for this County and there to abide judgmt. hereof fail not September ye 25 th 1691: John: Kemp. Informer.
