September ye 29th. 1691. ( 158 ) To their Maties Justices of the Peace for Somerset County Court The humble Petion of John: Tayler sheweth that whereas your Petioner in June Court last past did prefer a petion agt John Strawbridge for two hundred pounds of tobacco, for taking up his wench, Mary Maxwell, which was runn away, but yr petioner can find no order upon Record for the sd two hundred pounds of tobacco, which your Petioner humbly prayes Order for the same now againe against the sd John: Strawbridge, and yr petioner as in duty bound shall ever pray. John: Tayler. The aforesd Petion being Read it was by this Court Considered and Ordered that the sd John Strawbridge pay the sd John: Tayler two hundred pounds of tobacco as prayed for &c. Edward: Prise being presented by the Jury of Enquiry for Orphants last June Court Concerning the Estate of Richard: Bright the sd Edward made it appear that he had none of the sd Estate Save only an Orphant belonging to the sd decd Richard Bright and therefore was dismist pr Court. Hough Conner. this day bound before the Court to make his personall appearance before their worps the next Court to be holden the Second tuesday in November 1691. to answer to their Maties, what shall be &c. and therefore Came the sd Hough Conner & by recognizance did confess himself to be indebted to the their Maties the sum of 10,. Sterling and ffrancis: Joyce his Security in the Sum of five pounds like money due to be leavied on their goods and chattels Lands and tennements for their Maties uses &c. The Condicon of wch. Recogniz is Such that if the sd Conner do make his appearance as abovesd then the Recog void, otherwayes to be and remain in full power force and vertue. twice recorded 161 mr Roger: Woolford Comr. Sitts now in Court. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To their Maties Justices of the Peace for Somerset County now Sitting in Court. The humble petion of Edwd Prise humbly sheweth to your worps that Coll. Wm: Coulbourne, Sold a woman Servant as by writing may appear for the Space of two years and Seaven months to the petioner which Servant the Petioner Sold to John:Browne of Nanticoke for the said Terme, which Servant was afterward Sett free from sd Browne before the end of sd Terme by Order of Court, Now So it is that sd Browne recovered Six hundred pounds tobacco of the petioner for his loss of the said Servant. May it therefore please your worps to Order the Heirs of aforesd Coll. Wm Coulbourne to repay the sd Six hundred pounds of tobacco to the Petioner. and the Petioner as bound in duty shall pray &c. C Petion being read Capt. Wm Coulbourne appearing, the Court referred the matter to mr Thomas Jones and mr Thomas: Evernden. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Coll. David Browne according to a Sumons this day in Court produced a receit of James Weatherleys for 10 of this County Arms, and ye sd Browne gave accot. of 15 which he him Self had. Capt. Wm: Coulbourne gave accot of 21: ditto arms he had, and a receit from Major Ambrose Lunden for 6. ditto Mr. Edward Day gives accot to this Court of twenty five Arms viz 12 at his Owne house. 6 at Capt. Winders four at mr Jno. Huets 2 Carryed away by Servants which the sd Day assumes to make good, and One Capt Mash Carryed away which the Court thinks not fitting to Charge to sd Dayes accompt. |
