9ber 15th 1690 ( 10 ) - - - - - - - Whereupon the Court Orders the said William Matthews to give good Security for ye good behaviour as also Orders him fined according to Law for being drunk Cursing and damming. Likewise do Order him twenty lashes upon his bare back well laid on for the injury done to Capt. John: King. which said Corporall punishment, by Capt. Kings request to to the rest of the Justices, as also the sd Matthews humble Submission and penitence was remitted. - - - - - And thereupon the sd Wm: Matthews in Open Court pr Recognizance doth acknowledge him selfe to owe and stand indebted unto their Maties. King: Wm and Queen: Mary in y Sum of One hundred pounds sterling money of England, due to be leavied upon his goods Chattels lands and tenements. for their Maties uses &c. Likewise came the sd Matthews Securities viz. mr. Henry: Lynch. Henry: Hudson Senior and Richard Webb. and did acknowledge them Selves to be indebted to their Maties in fifty pounds sterling money a peece to be leavied as above for their Maties uses &c. as also pay Court fees & fines &c. The Condition of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound William:Matthews be of the good behavior and abearance to all their Maties leige people of this Province but more espetially toward their Maties Justices of Peace for this County, dureing pleasure, yt then this Recognizance to be void, Otherwayes to be and Remain in full power force & vertue Ordered that mr Stephen Luffe Sheriffe to sign all allienations for the time being. he taking Security for the sd fine upon Allienation . - - - Order mr. Whittington do lett the Jury have 120lb. Tobacco due from Wm. Matthews Their Maties The said Richard. Plunkett for sundry abuses agt. at the house of mr Andrew. Whittingtons was Comitted Richard: Plunkett into the Sheriffs Custody, viz) for being drunk, breach - - - - - - - - - - - of the Peace, Cursing and abuseing thre Justices the last night. And this day the sheriffe, in Court produces his prissoner, who being examined to each perticular Crime Pleaded not guilty, and for tryall puts him Selfe upon the Country. And therefore Comand was given to the sheriffe to Sumon twelve good and lawfull men of his Balywick which was forthwith performed - - - - A Liste or pannel of which are as followeth. Viz C Samuel: Collins. Roger: Phillips. Richard: Rugg Thomas:Hobb. Richard: Webb. John: Moore. ferym. Richard Lewes. George: Lane. George: Baly. William: Planner. Wm: Millard Robert: Crouch. which sd Jury was sworne at the Barr for this present Cause depending Like Comand was given to the Sheriffe to Sumons these person Evidences for Maties as followeth viz Roger: Burkam. sworne John: ffranklin The above sd Jury having heard the Evidences which And: Whittington sworne were duely Sumd and Sworne, as also thorowly examined Jno.
