(9) 9ber 15: 1690 - - - - - - - - Order mr. Samuel: Hopkins take. Bond with Security of John: ffranklin and Rhodiah his wife, Concerning John: Croppers Deceased Estate. as the Law in Such cases provides - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Joseph: Venables & Wm: Jenkins continued till next Court, then Court to asess the tob due to Venables. for deteining his prentice. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Their Majesties The said William: Matthews for sundry abuses done and agt. Comitted, viz, drunkeness, cursing, damming and throwing William: Matthews of brick batts, to the great wounding of Capt. John: King - - - - - - - - - who was Sett with the rest of the Comrs. in Mr. And. Whittingtons house, as also abuseing the Justices by threatining words and ye like, for which he was Comitted into the Sheriffs Custody the last night: and this day to wit the 15th day of November He the said Matthews was brought before our Justices in Court Sitting, and being thoroughly examined as to each perticular crime above inserted, pleaded not guilty and for tryall put him Selfe upon the Country. ------ Whereupon Comand was given to the Sheriffe to Sumon twelve good and lawfull men of his Balywick, which was forthwith performed. A list or pannel of which are as followeth. Viz, Samuell = Collins. Roger: Phillips. Richard:Rugg. Thomas: Hobbs. Richard. Webb. Jno: Moore ferrym Richard: Lewes. George: Lane. George: Bayly. William: Planner.senr William Millard Robert: Crouch. which said Jury was at the Barr sworne upon this prsent cause depending Likewise Comand was given to the sheriffe to Sumon these persons (viz) Evidences as followeth Roger: Burkam. - - - -sworne John: ffranklin. - - - sworne The aforesaid Jury having heard ye evidences Andrew:Whittington - sworne which were duely sumoned and Sworne as also John: Webb. - - - - sworne thorowly examined, received their charge and goes forth Thomas:Dixon - - - - sworne Peter: Whaples. - - - sworne Which foresaid Jury having deliberately weiged and Richard Chambers - - - sworne determined the matter, returns in Court with this follo= Michael: Dunnahoe. - - sworne =wing Verdict which is read in the audience of the John: Burkam. a boy examd said Matthews as followeth (viz) We the Jurers do Evidences for their Maties find William: Matthews guilty of drunkeness, Cursing & - - - - - - - - - - - - damming, throwing of brick batts into the house of Andrew Whittington Innholder amongst his Maties Justices of of this County & also threatning y sd Justices Espetially Col Browne ye 13th day of November last past at night Samuel: Collins foreman Order to Enter the Verdict - - - - - - - - - |
