1872. OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 989
A bill entitled an Act to refund to Ellen Hevalo, of Cecil
county, sum of money erroneously demanded of her by the
Clerk of the Circuit Court for Cecil county, for a license, and
paid by said Clerk into the Treasury.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Colton, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re-
ported favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to pay the claim of George C. Mer-
rick. State's Attorney for Prince George's county.
Which was read a first time.
Also, reported favorably,
The Senate bill entitled an Act to pay M. A. Newell the
sum of six hundred and twenty dollars, for clerical assistance
hired by him to aid in preparing two annual reports upon
the condition of the public schools of this State.
Which was read a second time.
Also, favorably,
The Senate bill entitled an Act to add a section to Article
'LVI of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
'"Licenses."
Which was read a second time.
Also, reported unfavorably,
The Senate bill entitled an Act to release Stephen J. Brad-
ley, Samuel Phillips and Dr. Washington Fenley, adminis-
trators of Lemuel Roberts, securities on the bond of Noah O.
Merchant, late Collector of State and county taxes, in the
First Election District of Queen Anne's county, for the years
1867 nd 1868, from the payment of interest on their pay-
ment of balance of principal due on the State bond of said
Merchant, into the Treasury of the State, by the 16th day of
December, 1872.
The report was adopted and said bill returned to the Senate.
Also, favorably,
The Senate bill entitled an Act to pay to John Baggs,
Clerk of the Circuit Court for Talbot county, a sum of money
as commissions on money collected for the State.
Which was read a second time.
Also, reported favorably,
The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 27, 28,
29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36, of Article LVI of the
