Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means,
to Introduce a bill to provide the, re-assessment of certain
property in,Baltimoreo^ City, belonging 'to John S. Gittings.
On motion of Mr, Markland; -
Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims, to intro-
duce a bill to pay balance due on sewerage tor State House
and Governor's Mansion,
On motion of Mr. Porter, i
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means,.
to introduce a bill entitled an Act to prohibit the issuing of
licenses for the sale of liquor within the corporate limits of
Frostburg, Allegany county, and to submit said. Act to the
voters of said. town,
On motion of Mr. Young, of Washington,
Leave was granted to the Washington delegation, to intro-
duce a bill to make certain changes in the law in regard to-
selling intoxicating liquors to minors.
Mr. dark, of Montgomery, submitted the following
JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, the present depressed condition of Agriculture
in this State, is owing in a great measure to the exorbitant
price of fertilizers, the price thereof being so great, that but.
few of our farmers can use them profitably, and
Whereas, it is believed that the duties and taxes imposed
by the General Government on such articles, as enter into-
the manufacture of fertilizers, is one of the causes that tend.
to keep up the present price; .therefore, be it
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That our
Senators Bond Representatives in Congress, be earnestly re-quested, to use their best efforts to procure the repeal Oft all
laws. of Congress, that compel the payment of duties or taxes,
on such articles, as enter into the manufacture of Fertilizer*..
Resolved, that the Governor be requested to forward a copy
of these resolutions to each one of our Senators and Repre-
sentatives in Congress.
Which were read a first time, and referred to the Commit-tee on Federal Relations.
