Mr. Shipley presented the petition of fifty-five citizens of
the second election district of Baltimore county, praying the
passage of a general law, to enable the qualified voters of any
"ward or district in the State, to determine by ballot, whether
drinking may or may not be licensed within such districts,
under existing law, and in all districts voting against such
license, to prohibit the sale of such drinks, except for medici-
nal or mechanical purposes, under severe penalties.
Which was read and deferred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Smith presented the petition of Samuel W. Woolford,
and fifty two other citizens, remonstrating against any
change in the boundary lines, of the Act of incorporation of
the village of Church Creek, Dorchester county.
Which was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation.
Mr. Stewart presented resolutions, with accompanying pe-
tition, asking the modification of the Sunday Law.
Which were severally read and referred to the Select
Committee on that subject.
Mr. Staylor presented a petition from Peter Lyons, and.
other citizens of Baltimore, to increase the civil jurisdiction
of Justices of the Peace.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Groome presented the petition of Jacob Tome, and
seventy-three other residents of Port Deposit, asking the
passage of a new act of incorporation for said town.
Which was read and referred to the Cecil delegation.
Mr. Vickers presented the petition of Major B. Marshall,
and other citizens, remonstrating against any change in the
law regulating the taking of fur animals in Dorchester county.
Which was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation.
Also,
The petition of S. S. Ewell, and others, of Dorchester
county, asking that the property and capital stock of the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company be taxed.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Griswold presented the petition of citizens of Baltimore,
against a tax on mortgage.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
And Means.
