Upon the call of the roll, the following vote was had :

Whereupon, it appearing that no person had received a
majority of all the votes cast, the Chairman declared that no
person had. been elected by the Joint Convention as Senator
from Maryland to the Congress of the United States.
On motion of Mr. Fields,
At 1.15 o'clock, P. M. the Joint Convention adjourned,
until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, noon.
The House then resumed the consideration of the business
of the Session.
The Speaker appointed Richard Gardner, E. T. Sheppard,
Sylvester J. Costigan, and GPO. W. Sharpley, officers of the
House, who appeared, qualified, and entered upon the dis-
charge of their respective duties.
Mr. Markland (the rules being suspended) submitted the
following order : ,
Ordered, That when this House adjourn to-day, it stand.
adjourned until to-morrow morning at eleven o'clock.
On motion of Mr. Markland,
At 1.30 o'clock, P. M., the House adjourned.
