1872.J OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 97 The Chairman declared that no person had been elected by the Joint Convention as Senator from Maryland to the Congress of the United States. The Joint Convention the proceeded to a third ballot. Upon the call of the roll the following vote was had : THIRD VOTE. Hon. James T. Earle received 12 votes. " Daniel M Henry " 17 " " George B. Dennis " 13 " " George Vickers " 25 " " James B. Groome " 8 " " John B. Franklin " 5 " {- R. B. Carmichael " 6 " " Jacob Tome " 1 " ' P. F. Thomas " 1 " ( J. A. J. Creswell " 11 " " Daniel Fields " 1 " 100 Whereupon, it appearing that no person had received a Majority of all the votes cast, the Chairman declared that no person had been elected by the Joint Convention as Senator from Maryland to the Congress of the United States. The Joint Convention then proceeded to a fourth ballot. Upon the call of the roll the following vote was had: FOURTH VOTE. Hon, James T. Earle received 14 votes. ( George Vickers " 27 " " George R.
