FRIDAY, March 16th—8 o'clock, P. M.
The House met.
Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Franklin, Parker, Phillips, Bowe, Miller, "Riley, Baldwin,
Streett, Hardcastle, Deweese, McCosker, Hamilton, T. H.,
Cooper, Hamilton, C. R.) Jamart, Stewart, Travers, Colton,
of B city, Feig, McColgan, Markland, Griswold, Young, of
Wash., Newcomer, Riggs, dark, of Mont., Porter, Coles,
Young, of Alle., Robinette, Lamotte, L. A. J., Lamotte,
H. H,, Linthicum, Johnson, Langrell—54.
Mr. Griswold, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order:
Ordered, That on and after 12 o'clock, on Saturday, this
House will proceed, to the consideration of Senate bills.
Which was read, and,
On motion of Mr. Feig,
Laid on the table.
On motion of Mr. Langrell, (the rules being suspended,)
Leave was granted to Messrs. Langrell, Johnson and Park-
er, to report a bill, granting the assent of the Legislature to
bequest made in the last will and testament of Lydia Lowe,
late of Wicomico county, deceased, to George Lowe, of said.
county, for the use and benefit of the Old School Baptist
Church, in Salisbury, in said county.
Mr. Hardcastle, from the Committee on Corporations, (the
rules being suspended,) reported favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to incorporate the Free School and
Calvin Institute of Baltimore, for the education of young
ladies.
Which was read a first time.
Also,

A bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Elkton and Elk
Valley Railroad Company, to charge a higher rate for trans-
portation, and tolls of persons and freight than is permitted
by-section 13, of chapter 476, of the Act of 1870, codified as
section 224, of Article XXVI., of the amended Code of Pub-
