Which wag read a first time. Mr, Colton, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re- ported favorably, A bill, entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claim of Seth W. Warfleld, Iate Collector of State taxes in Howard county. Which was read. a first time. Mr. Henkle, Chairman of the Committee on Education, reported favorably, A bill entitled, an Act to repeal an Act passed at the Jan- uary Session of 1870, entitled an Act to repeal an Act passed at the January Session of 1868, entitled " Public Education' ' providing a General System of Free Public schools for the State of Maryland, and to repeal all laws inconsistent there- with, and to re-enact the same with amendments. Which was read a first time and ordered to be printed. Mr. Groome, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported -favorably, A bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 82, 83, 84, 85 and. 87, of Article XI., of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Frederick County," sub-title "Frederick," and to enact the following sections and sub-sections in lieu thereof, and as substitutes therefor.
