NIGHT SESSION.
TUESDAY, March 14—8 o'clock, P. M.
The House met.
Present at the coil of the roll, the following members ;
Messrs. German, Speaker, Dunbar, Wilmer, Hurtt, Wells,
Bond, Stone, Shipley, Foard, of B. co., Litzinger, Banks,
Butler, Roach, Waller, Dougherty, Smith, Vickers, Groome,
Mearns, Scott, Sasscer, Eareckson, Ford, of Q. A., Phillips,
Rowe, Delaplane, Miller, Riley, Baldwin, Streett, Hard-
castle, Deweese, Cooper, Jamart, Staylor, Stewart, Travers,
Kirk, Chaisty, McColgan, Markland, Griswold, Young, of
Wash., Newcomer, Whitson, Riggs, dark, of Mont., Por-
ter, Codes, Young, of Alle., Steele, Lamotte, L. A. J,, La-
motte, H. H,, Linthicum, Langrell—54.
The Speaker laid before the House the following communi-
cation from Hon. Joshua Vansant, Mayor of the City of Bal-
timore, together with the following resolutions :
MAYOR'S OFFICE,
BALTIMORE, March 14, 1872.
To the General Assembly of Maryland:
GENTLEMEN : I herewith transmit to your Honorable Body,
a certified copy of a resolution of the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore, entitled a "Resolution requesting the General
Assembly to pass an Act authorizing the introduction of
water from the Gunpowder River into the City of Baltimore,"
which, by the second resolution under the above caption, I
am requested to communicate to your Honorable Body.

Resolution requesting the General Assembly to pass an Act
authorizing the introduction of -water from the Gunpowder River into the City of Baltimore :
Resolved, by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, That
the General Assembly of Maryland be requested to pass, at
its present session, an Act to authorize the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to issue City Water Stock, to an amount
not exceeding three millions of dollars, for the purpose of
introducing the water of the Gunpowder river, at such time,
and under such provisions as the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore may determine by ordinance.
