842 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 14, Mr. Staylor submitted the following order : Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that if Mr. Staylor had been present when the bill to pay sick policemen passed, he would have voted for it. Which was adopted. On motion of Mr. Miller, " - Leave was granted to the Frederick delegation to introduce a bill, for the protection of fish in the waters of the Monocacy and its tributaries. On motion of Mr. Groome, Leave was granted to the Committee on Incorporations to introduce a bill, to allow the Elkton and Elk Valley Rail- road, incorporated under the Acts of 1870, chapter 476, to charge a large sum for transportation and tolls, of persons and freight, than is authorized by the general incorporation Acts. On motion of Mr. Smith, Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to introduce a bill, to repeal section 3, of Article XOV., of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Usury," and to re- enact the same with amendments. On motion of Mr. Young, of Washington,, Leave was granted to the Washington delegation to in- troduce a bill, to authorize the Commissioners of Washing- ton county to purchase property and move the Almshouse. Mr. Groome presented certain resolutions adopted by a meeting of German citizens, held at the Maryland Institute March 6, 1872, against the repeal or the Sunday Law. Which were read. Mr. Groome moved that the resolutions be printed in full upon the Journal, Pending which, On motion of Mr, Stewart, Said resolutions were referred to the Select Committee on that subject. On motion of Mr. L. A. J. Lamotte, The House proceeded to the consideration of, The bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 59, of the Act of 1868, chapter 471, and re-enact the same so as to read as fol- lows. |
