A bill, entitled an Act appropriating a sum of money to
pay the claims of Charles W. Geekie, R. A. Ashmyer, F.
Meager, John Scwind, Barry & Cook, and Jacob O. Meader.
"Which was read a first time.
Mr. Banks, Chairman of a Select Committee, to whom was
referred,
The bill, entitled an Act to provide for the distribution
and investment of the proceeds of sale of the- Alms House
property of Baltimore county, and of securities held by and
belonging to said county,
Reported back the same favorably, with proposed amend-
ments.
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amend line 26, of printed bill, section 3, by striking out
the word "preceding," and substituting in lieu thereof the
word "succeeding," amend line 28, in section 3, by striking
out the word "not," add this as new section 4 :
SEC. i. And be it enacted, that the said County Commis-
sioners be, and they are hereby, authorized and required, to
exchange, whenever it can be done without loss to the
county, any and all securities belonging to or held by Balti-
more County, or by the said County Commissioners, for the
bonded debt of said county, and as soon as received to cancel
such bonds as is directed in section 2 of this Act.
Make section 4, of the bill read, section 5; amend section
5, lines 3 and 4, by striking out the words "or Government,"
and inserting the word "or" between city and State,
Make section 5 read section 6.
Make section 6 read section 7.
The amendments were severally read and adopted,
And the bill was read a second time as amended, and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.
Mr. Bond, Chairman of a Select Committee, to whom was
referred,
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to add new sections to
Article V. of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Calvert
County,"
Reported the same unfavorably, and the report was
adopted.
Mr. Hardcastle, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
