MONDAY, March 11, 1872.
The House met.
And was opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. Hen-
derson.
Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. German, Speaker, Colton, of St. Mary's, Wilmer,
Wells, Henkle, Bond, Sparrow, Stone, Shipley, Turner,
Foard, of Balto. county, Litzinger, Spencer, Banks, Butler,
' Goldsborough, Dougherty, Smith, Tickers, Radcliffe, Groome,
Penington, Scott, Sasscer, Eareckson, Parker, Rowe, Miller,
Riley, Streett, Hardcastle, McCosker, Hamilton, T. H.,
Cooper, Hamilton, C. R., Jamart, Staylor, Stewart, Travers,
dark, of Balto. City, Colton, of Balto. City, Kirk, Chaisty,
Harig, Feig, McColgan, Markland, Griswold, Whitson,
dark, of Mont., Porter, Coles, Young, of Alle., Robi-
nette, Steele, Polk, Lamotte. H., Linthicum, Johnson,
Langrell—60.
Mr. Kirk presented the petition of Noah Walker & Co.,
Hamilton Easter & Sons, Armstrong, Cator & Co., and
others, in favor of extending the jurisdiction of Magistrates
to two hundred and fifty dollars.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Jamart presented the petition of George Rossing, and
140 other citizens, asking the abolishment of coopering in
the Penitentiary.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Manu-
factures.
Mr. Miller presented the petition of Richard Harper,
Jacob E. Palmer, and 38 other residents of Frederick Dis-
trict, in Frederick county, asking for a law authorizing the
Governor to appoint an additional Justice of the Peace for
said district.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary. ^
Mr. Staylor presented the petition of 200 citizens of Bal-
timore, in favor of the modification of the Sunday Law.
Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
that subject.
