Mr. Young, of Allegany, presented the petition of one
hundred and twenty citizens of Frostburg, Allegany county,
Maryland, asking the appointment of a German Teacher is
schools where German children are in large numbers.
Which, was read and referred, to the Committee on Edu-
cation.
On motion of Mr. Baldwin, (the rules being suspended,)
The House proceeded to the consideration of
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to legalize the bequest of
Mrs. Ana Stump, late of Harford county, to the "Deer Creek
Harmony Church," in Harford county.
Said bill being upon a third reading.
Oa motion of Mr. Baldwin,
The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill referred to the Harford delegation.
On motion of Mr, Goldsborough, (the rules being suspended,)
The House proceeded to the consideration of
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to extend the jurisdiction
of Justices of the Peace to cases of Assault and Battery.
Said biIl being upon a third reading,
On motion of Mr. Goldsborough;
The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill referred to Messrs. Goldsborough, Butler and Johnson.
On motion of Mr. Polk, (the rules being suspended,)
The House proceeded, to the consideration of
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to create an additional
election district in Carroll county, to be styled the 12th elec-
tion district of Carroll county.
Said 'bill being upon a third reading,
On motion of Mr. Folk,
'The farther consideration thereof wag postponed, and the
bill recommitted to the Carrol delegation.
Mr. Stone submitted the following preamble and order:
WHEREAS, The 27th section of the third Article of the Con-
stitution, provides that, "no bill shall originate in either
House during the last ten days of the Session, unless two-
thirds of the members elected thereto shall so determine
by yeas and naya;" and whereas, Monday, the 1st of April
nest, is the last day of this Session of the General Assem-
bly ol Maryland ; therefore, be it
