The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Chap-
lain.
Present at the call of the roll the following members :

zinger, Spencer, Banks, Butler, Roach, Waller, Dougherty,

Bowie, Eareckson, Ford, ofQ,. A., Franklin, Parker, Phillips,
Bowe, Delaplane, Miller, Routzahn, Riley, Baldwin, Streett,
Hardcastle, McCosker, Hamilton, T. H., Cooper, Hamilton,
C. R., Jamart, Foster, Staylor, Steward, Travers, dark, of B.
city, Colton, of B. city, Kirk, Chaisty, Harig, Feig, McColgan, Markland, Griswold, Young, of Wash, co., Ardinger,
Newcomer, Whitson, Hilton, Riggs, dark, of Mont., Por-
ter, Coles, Young, of Alle., Steele, Lamotte, L. A. J., Polk,
Lamotte, H. H., Linthicum, Johnson, Langrel—73.
The Speaker laid before the House, a petition of Prof. M,
F. Maury, L. L. D., together with his address before the
Fair of the Agricultural and Mechanical Society of Memphis,
Tennessee, in relation to International Meteorological Obser-
vations.
Which, was read, and
On motion of Mr. Groome,
Referred to the Committee on Federal Relations.
Mr. Kirk presented a petition of citizens of Frederick
County, praying the passage of an Act relating to Hospital
and Alms House of Frederick County.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
Mr. Stewart submitted the following order :
Ordered, That the Board of Police Commissioners for the
City of Baltimore, report to this House on or before the 24th
inat., the amount of money levied for and collected by said
Board, to defray the expenses of the Police "force. What
time the order was issued and took effect, stopping the pay
of policemen when sick. What amount was expended the
previous year to the issuing of said order. What number,
and the names of the policemen and officers that have been
sick, and the length of time they and each one of them have
been sick, and the amount of money kept from them and
each of them on account of such sickness. What amount of
