50 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 11, with the message of your Honorable Body, acceded to by this. House. We have nominated on the part of this House Messrs. By order, MILTON Y. KIDD, Chief Clerk. Which was read. Mr. Streett nominated John W. Davis, Esq., of Baltimore City. Mr. Routzahn nominated Joseph Shriver, Esq., ofAllegany county. The blank in the message was then filled with the names of John W- Davis and Joseph Shriver. The message as amended, was then lead, assented to and sent to the Senate. The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following message: BY THE SENATE, January 11, 1872. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates: The hour of 2 o'clock having arrived, we are prepared to go into the election of a State Treasurer. We have made no other nominations except those mentioned in your message. By order, AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY, Secretary. Which was read. The hour of 2-o'clock, P. M., having arrived, the House proceeded to the election of a State Treasurer, to supply the place of Hon. John Merryman, the present State Treasurer, when it appeared that eighty ballots had been cast on the part of the House of Delegates. The Speaker then sealed the box and delivered the same into the hands of Messrs. Griswold and Banks, tellers on the part of the House, who proceeded to the Senate Chamber, to join those-who had been appointed on the part of the Senate, for the purpose of counting the ballots.
