Mr. Foster presented the memorial of the House of Refuge
to the Senate and House of Delegates of Maryland.
Which was ordered to be printed, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Butler presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Talbot county, asking the passage of a law allowing each
election district to decide if liquor shall be sold therein.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Miller presented the petition of Maria Browning-,
Catharine Sharven, and twenty-seven others, widows of sol-
diers, and soldiers of the war of 1812, asking to be continued
on the pension rolls, as provided for by the Acts of 1867 and
1870.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.
Also,
The petition of J. E. Arnold, and sixty-four others, citi-
zens of Frederick county, asking the passage of a law to al-
low all Christian denominations within said county the use.
of public school houses for public worship.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.
Mr. Jamart presented the petition of F. Wamuth, and one
hundred and three other citizens, asking the abolishment of
shoemaking in the Penitentiary.
Also,
The petition of William Alien, and. one hundred and ten
other citizens, asking the abolishment of coopering in the
Penitentiary.
Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Manufactures.
Mr. Groome presented the petition of Charles Kirk, and
eighty-two other residents of Cecil county, asking the pas-'
sage of a law allowing each election district; to decide tor it
self whether or not liquor shall he sold therein.
Also,
The petition of J. J, Hoopes,and seventy-seven other resi-
dents of Cecil county, asking for the paasage of a law allow-
ing each election district to decide for itself whether or not
intoxicating liquors shall be sold therein.
