Leave was granted to the Carroll delegation to introduce
a bill to repeal sections 139 and 141, of Article VII., of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Carroll county, entitled "New
Windsor," and to re-enact the same with amendments and
sub-sections.
On motion of Mr. Stone,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Mean*
to introduce a bill to tax the gross receipts of railroad com-
panies in this State.
On motion of Mr. Stone,
Leave was granted to the Charles county delegation, and
Mr, Colton, of St. Mary's, to introduce a bill to exempt
Charles county from the operation of the Act of 1870, chap-
ter 441, entitled "Fees of Officers.
On motion of Mr. Eareckson,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Eareckson, Ford, of Queen
Anne's, and Wilmer to introduce a bill for the better protec-
tion of partridges and other game in Queen Anne's county-..
Mr. Porter, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported

A bill, entitled an Act to amend the sixty-second section,
of Article I., of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to-
Election Districts in Allegany county, by adding the follow-
ing.
Which was read a first time.
On motion of Mr. Kirk (the rules being suspended, )
The House proceeded to the consideration of Senate .bills
entitled to a third reading,
The Senate bill entitled an Act directing the County Com-
missioners of Washington county, to issue bonds to raise
money to build a Court House in said county, and appoint-
ing Commissioners to contract to erect the same,
Being upon a third reading,
Mr. Whitson submitted the following amendment:
Section 1, line 7, strike out the word " seven," and insert
"six."
The question recurring upon the adoption of the amend-ment,
Mr. Whitson demanded the yeas and nays.
The demand being sustained,
