A bill entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and Council
of Hagerstown to appropriate a sum of money to purchase-
a hook and ladder apparatus to aid and assist the fire de-
partment of Hagerstown, and. to levy a tax for the payment-
of the same.
Which was read a first time, and referred to the Wash-
ington delegation.
Also,
A bill, entitled an Act ceding to the United States of
America, jurisdiction over the land contained within the en-
closures of the National Cemetery near Annapolis.
Which was read a first time and referred, to the Commit-
tee on the Judiciary.
Also, returned
The bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and City
Council of Batimore, to issue the bonds of said City to ait
amount not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars, as pro-
vided by an ordinance of the said Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore, entitled "an ordinance to authorize the issue
of the bonds of the City of Baltimore to provide funds for the-
building of the new City Hall, approved February 8, 1872/"
Endorsed, " Passed-by yeas and. nays."
Mr. Kirk presented the petition of citizens of Baltimore-
City, for the removal of Western Hay Scales, situated at the-
intersection of Fremont and Chatsworth streets.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Kirk, Colton, of
Baltimore City, and Turner.
Mr. Steele presented the petition of Joseph Stouffer, Jesse-Lambert, and nineteen others, praying amendments and sub-
stitutes to the charter of the town of New Windsor, in Car-roll county.
Which was read and referred to the Committee 69 Cor-
porations.
Mr. Stone presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Charles county, praying for a dog law.
Which was read. and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
Mr. Chaisty presented the petition of J. L. McPhail for
payment of claim for services rendered the State in detecting
bounty frauds, under authority from the Comptroller of the
State, &c., &c.
