414 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. IS., Mr. Chaisty presented the petition of Margaret Baum, widow of Samuel Baum,' to be restored to the State pension rolls, Also, The petition of Mary E. Biven, widow of Horatio Biven, to be placed upon the pension rolls. Which were Severally read and referred to -the Committee— on Pensions. Also presented The memorial and petition of John B. Morris, and others, Directors of the Maryland Eye and Ear Institute, asking for assistance. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Way and Means. Mr. Streett presented the petition of J. T. Russell, and fifty- four others, asking the passage of a law prohibiting the staking of gill-uets in the head-waters bf the Chesapeake Bay and tributaries above Pool's Island. Which was read, and referred to the Committee on th Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries. Mr. Banks submitted the following order: Ordered, That when this House adjourn to-day, it stand adjourned until Monday next, at 12 o'clock. Which was adopted. Mr. Scott submitted the following order : Ordered, That the Committee on Education be and they are hereby instructed to inquire into the expediency of organ- izing some plan of public instruction for the colored children of this State, and report by bill or otherwise. Which was adopted. Mr. Johnson submitted the following order : Ordered, That Win. J. Langrell be excused from this House until next Tuesday. Mr. Eareckson submitted the following order : Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. ford, of Queen -Anne's, is absent on account of sickness. "Which was adopted. \ Mr. Vickers submitted the following order: Ordered, That Mr. Radcliffe be excused from attendance On the Sessions of this House, until Tuesday next. |
