Said bill was then returned to the Senate.
Mr. Cooper (the rules being suspended) presented the me-
morial of St. Mary's Industrial School; and the petition of
Thomas O. Yearly, and others, trustees of St. Mary's Indus-
trial School, asking assistance for the institution.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Griswold, Chairman of the Committee on the Judici-
ary, reported favorably a bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 2 of Article 37, of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to the competency of witnesses and the examination
of parties, as amended by the Act of 1868, chapter 116, and
to re-enact the same with. amendments relating to the com-
petency of witnesses and the examination of parties.
