ties, asking that the grievances complained of be removed or
the charters of the Baltimore and Harford and the Belair
Turnpike Companies be vacated.
Which was read, and referred to Messrs. Streett, Foard,
of Bait co., Shipley, Litzinger and. Baldwin.
Mr. Groome presented the petition of Lucy Taylor and two
hundred other residents of Cecil County, asking that each
ward or voting precinct he allowed to decide whether intoxi-
cating liquors shall be sold therein.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Kirk presented the petition of John Ritchie, J. Alfred.
Ritter, Judge John A. Lynch, and three hundred and sixty-
six citizens of Frederick City, praying the General Assem-
bly to ; ass a hill relating to Mayor, Aldermen and Common
Counci of Frederick City.
Which was read, and referred to the Select Committee on
th at subject.
Mr. Streett presented the petition of Thomas G. Archer
and fifty-two other citizens of Harford County, asking that
the State donations to the academy of said county be with-
drawn therefrom, and the same applied to the support of a
primary and high public school.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.
Mr. Miller presented the petition of Frederick Howman
and others of Frederick County, soldiers and widows of sol-
diers of the War of 1812, asking for a pension.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
Mr. Bond submitted the following order :
Ordered; That a committee of five be appointed by the
Speaker of this House to visit the City of Baltimore to ex-
amine into the affairs of the State Tobacco Warehouses.
Which was adopted, and
Messrs. Bond, Sasscer, Colton, of St. Mary's, Steele, and
Feig, constituted said committee,
Mr. Smith submitted the following order :
Ordered, That the printer furnish each member of this
House with (50) fifty copies of the Governor's message and
accompanying documents, compensation not to exceed the
price paid by the last Legislature.
Which was adopted.
