CHAPTER 425.
AX ACT to amend the darter of the Annapolis
and Elk Ridge Railroad Company, by authorizing
the said company to extend its road to the harbor
of the City of Annapolis, to borrow money upon
a mortgage of its properly and franchises, and
regulating the number and election of the Direc-
tors of the said company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Man/hind, That the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Rail-
road Company be and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to extend its road down to the harbor of
the City of Annapolis, or to any of waters or streams
adjacent thereto, or to any wharf, pier, bank, point
or shore, in or adjacent to said harbor or waters or
streams, and may for the purpose of making such
extension build a branch or brandies to their said
road, and in the location of the same may, with the
consent of the corporate authorities of the City of
Annapolis, use any street, lane, or alley of the said
city, and may for such purpose acquire by purchase
or condemnation in the manner prescribed by the
darter of the said company, any land, earth, mate-
rials or other property necessary for the construction
of such branch or branches, or other works required
by the said company, and may purchase or build
wharves or piers at any point to which such branch
or branches may be built.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said company
be and it is hereby authorized and empowered to
borrow money and to issue bonds or certificates of
indebtedness under its corporate seal, and to secure
the payment thereof with interest thereon, for which
coupons may be attached to such bonds or certifcates, payable semi-annually; the said company may
execute a mortgage or mortgages, or deed or deeds
of trust upon all or any of its property, real and per-
sonal, together with the franchises of said company.
