article thirty, of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to " Crimes and Punishments," to be inser-
ted after section fifty, under the sub-head of "Embez-
zling property and writings;" to wit:
51. Every hirer of a personal chattel of the value
of twenty dollars and upwards, who shall secrete,
make away with, sell, or otherwise dispose of the
same, with Intent to defraud the owner thereof,
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof shall be liable to a fine, not exceeding double
the value of the article disposed of, and imprison-
ment for a term not exceeding thirty days, or cither,
at the discretion of the court.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 424.
AN ACT to continue in force an Act entitled an Act
to regulate and make uniform the fees of Consta-
bles, passed January session, eighteen hundred and
sixty-five, chapter sixty-seven.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Act of January session, eighteen
hundred and sixty-five, chapter sixty-seven, entitled
an Act to regulate and make uniform the fees of
Constables, and which will expire on the first day of
April, eighteen hundred and seventy-two, be and the
same is hereby continued in force, until the General
Assembly shall repeal or modify the same.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from April first, eighteen hundred and seventy-
two.
