LAWS OF MARYLAND.
CHAPTER 397.
AN ACT to repeal an Act, entitled " an Act to re-
peal section one of an Act passed January session,
eighteen hundred and seventy, chapter thirty-four,
entitled ' County Commissioners of Wicomico
county,' " and to re-enact the first section of an
Act passed January session, eighteen hundred and
sixty-eight, chapter fifty.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section one, chapter thirty-four, of
an Act passed at the January session, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy, be and the same is hereby repealed,
and section one, chapter fifty, of an Act passed January session, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, be and
the same is hereby re-enacted so as to read as follows:
1. There shall be five County Commissioners of
Wicomico county, who shall have all the powers and
perform such duties as are now or may hereafter be
conferred by law upon the County Commissioners,
in the several counties in this State, not inconsistent
herewith, and in addition thereto shall have the
entire control and management of the almshouse and
poor of said county, without the intervention of
trustees of the poor.
Sue. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall liave power to appoint a clerk, who shall
receive an annual salary of four hundred dollars,
who, before entering upon the discharges of his duties,
shall take the oath of office provided for by the Con-
stitution of the State, and remain in office until his
successor has been appointed and qualified.
; SEC. 3. And be It enacted. That the said clerk shall
give bond to the State of Maryland, in the penal mm
of one thousand dollars, with good and sufficient
securities, for the faithful performance of his duties,
which bond shall be filed in the office of the Circuit
Court for said county, a certified copy of which shall
he sufficient evidence in a suit against him.
