Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill, entitled an Act to add an additional section
to Article V. of the Code of Public Local Laws, title, "Ap-
peals."
On motion of Mr dark, of Baltimore City,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to repeal section 97 of Article LX XXI of
Public General Laws, entitled "Revenue and Taxes." and
re-enact the same with amendments.
On motion of Mr. Hardcastle,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Hardcastle, Deweese and
Wilmer to introduce a bill to increase the civil jurisdiction
of Justices of the Peace in Caroline county to the bum of two
hundred dollars.
On motion of Mr. Chapman,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill, entitled an Act to regulate and make uni-
form the fees of Constables.
Mr. Stone, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, to whom was referred
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to add additional sections
to Article LXXXI. of the Code of Public General Laws of
this State, entitled "Revenue and Taxes," under the sub-
title "National Banks,"
Reported back the same with proposed amendment.
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
In section 196, in tenth line, after the word "officers," insert;
"To retain BO much of any dividend, or dividends, belong-
ing to the holders of such shares of stock as may be necessary to the taxes assessed in pursuance of the Act, and."
The amendment was adopted, and the bill, as amended,
read a second time.
Mr. Goldsborough, Chairman of the Committee on Immi-
gration, to whom was referred
The bill, entitled an Act to appoint a Commissioner of Im-
migration to protect the interests of labor and agriculture in
the State of Maryland, also receive and provide lor all immi-
grants arriving at the Port of Baltimore in the State of Ma-
ryland,
Reported back the same without amendment.
