CHAPTER 354.
AN ACT to appropriate the sum of ten thousand
dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary,
to repair the State Tobacco Warehouses in Balti-
more city.
WHEREAS, by the report of the special committee
appointed to visit and report to the General Assem-
bly of Maryland the condition of the State Tobacco
Warehouses, and also by a report from the Supervisor
of said warehouses, it has come to the knowledge of
this General Assembly that the State Tobacco Ware-
houses are in bad condition, and in want of imme-
diate repairs; therefor,
SECTION 1. Be It enacted the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sum of ten thousand dollars be
and the same is hereby appropriated, or as much
thereof as may he necessary, to make the needfull re-
pairs to the State Tobacco Warehouses situated in
Baltimore city.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That the Supervisor of State Tobacco Warehouses be and he is re-
quired to give notice in two or more daily news-
papers in the City of Baltimore, lor the period of two
weeks previous to the award of any contract, making
a statement of the repairs needed in each tobacco
warehouse, and invite proposals for repairing the
same, and the lowest responsible bidder shall be
awarded the contract upon giving bond to perform
the work faithfully and according to terms of con-
tract.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the Comptroller be
and he is hereby authorized and required to issue
his warrant on the Treasurer for such sum of money,
to be paid to said Supervisor of State Tobacco Ware-
houses, as lie may in writing certify to be necessary
for such repairs, not exceeding, however, the sum of
ten thousand dollars.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
