1872.] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES.' 303 Leave was granted to the Frederick delegation to intro- duce a bill authorizing the County Commissioners of Fred- erick county to subscribe to the capital stock of certain rail- roads herein named. On motion of Mr. Smith, Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to intro- duce a bill to pay John O. Henry, late first officer in Oys- ter Police Force, a sum of money due him in that service. On motion of Mr. Wilmer, Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to intro- duce a bill to provide for the payment of a sum of money to James A. Pearce, State's Attorney (or Kent county, in full for services rendered the State in the prosecution of five cases of violation of the existing oyster laws. On motion of Mr. Street, Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means to introduce a bill to provide tor the levying and collecting a tax on the transportation of coal mined in this State. On motion of Mr. Bond, Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to introduce a bill to amend sections 184, 185 and 186 of Ar- ticle XXX. or the Code of Public General Laws, entitled " Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Sentence," provid- ing for the sentence of infants convicted of crime, and to add" further sections to the said Article making additional pro- vision in reference to punishments, and giving further dis- cretion to Courts in the imposition of sentence. On motion of Mr. Dougherty, Leave was granted to the Somerset delegation to intro- duce a bill to punish the shooting of foxes in Somerset county while pursued by dogs. On motion of Mr. Bond, Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to introduce a bill to amend sections 98,100 and 102 of Ar- ticle XXX. of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Crimes and-Punishment," sub-title "Larceny," and to add further sections to the said Article making other pro- vision for the trial and punishment of the crime of petty larceny by giving Justices of the Peace jurisdiction in such cases, and providing for the punishment of the larceny of things attached to the freehold.
