Mr. Groome presented the petition or Captain PoweII Smack and one hundred and three others, residents of the Second Election District of Cecil County, asking the passage of a law allowing each ward or election district to decide for itself, whether intoxicating liquors shall be sold therein. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means. Mr Jamart presented the petition of John F. Carroll and two hundred and thiity-nine other citizens, asking the abol- ishing of shoemaking in the Penitentiary. Also, The petition of F. Raine find seventy other citizens, asking the abolishing of coopering in (he Penitentiary. Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on Manufactures Mr. Travers submitted the following order : Ordered, That the Committee on Inspections be granted the privilege of meeting during the session of the House to- day. Which way adopted. On motion of Mr. dark, of Baltimore City, Leave wan granted to the Committee en Corporations to introduce a bill to incorporate the Maryland. Academy of Art. On motion of Mr. Newcomer, Leave waa granted to the Committee on Ways and Means to introduce a bill to prohibit the sale of intoxicating liquors in Leitersburg District No. 9, of Washington county. On motion of Mr. Spencer, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to introduce a bill to amend the charter of Hannis Distilling Company of Philadelphia and Baltimore City. On motion of Mr. Claik, of Baltimore City, Leave was granted, to the Committee on Corporations to in- troduce a bill (to incorporate the Carrollton Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore, On motion of Mr. Linthicum, Leave wag granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to introduce a bill, to repeal section 65 of Article XX VIII. of |
