On motion of Mr. Sparrow, Leave was granted to the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries to introduce a bill, to amend section 33 of Article LXXI. of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled " Oysters," as amended and re-enacted by the Act of 1870, chapter 364, which provides for the appointment of the (Commissioners of the State Oyster Police Force, and to constitute the Attorney General a member of the said Beard of Commissioners, in Lieu of the Superintendent of Labor and Agriculture, whose office has expired by constitutional limitation. On motion of Mr. Banks, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in- troduce a bill, to amend an Act passed January Session, 1868, of the General Assembly of Maryland, entitled an Act to amend the charier of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company, passed June Session, 1849, chapter 469. Mr. Col ton, of Baltimore City, Chairman of the Commit- tee on Claims, reported favorably, A bill, entitled an act to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claims of Samuel Stewart, Thomas J. Duvall, John Himelberger, Samuel T. Stewart, James E. Tate, Henry W. Jenkins & Sun, John Murphy & Co., James E. Tate, John Root, Richard Tydings, James Iglehart & Son, John G. & Robert M. Proud, and the leader of the Naval School Band. Which was read a first time. Mr. Stone, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, reported A bill, entitled an Act to add the following sections to Ar- ticle V. of the Code of Public Local Laws for Calvert county, under the head of "Collection of Taxes," and provide for the collection of State and County Taxes in the said county, and for the appointment of a County Treasurer, And asked to he discharged from the further consideration of the same, and that the bill be referred to a Select Com- mittee. The committee was discharged, and the bill referred to the Calvert delegation and Mr. Duvall of Anne Arundel. Mr. Stone, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, reported favorably, |
