Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.
Mr. Colton of St. Mary's presented the petition of Ann E.
Zachary, asking to be placed upon the pension roll instead
other husband, who drew the pension under the Act of 1870.
Also,
The petition of Milcey Zachary, widow of Alexander Zach-
ary, asking to be restored to the State pension rolls.
Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.
Mr. Clark, of Baltimore City, submitted the following
message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
February 5th, 1872.
Gentlemen of {he Senate:
We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,.
the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of two on the
part of the Senate and three on the part of the House, to visit
the Spring Grove Asylum for the Insane, authorized to scruti-
nize the contracts and accounts generally, of the President
and Visitors of the Maryland State Hospital, as requested by
the President and Visitors of said Institution, in their report
to this General Assembly. The said Committee to report by
bill or otherwise.
We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs. Clark,
Markland and "Hardcastle
By order,
MILTON Y. KIDD,
Chief Clerk.
Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Travers submitted the following cider :
Ordered, That the Committee on Inspections be authorized
to inquire into the expediency of creating the office of Coal-
oil Inspector.
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Clark, of Baltimore City,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means
to introduce a bill, to repeal the Act of January Session, 1852
chapter 328, entitled an Act relating to tolls to be charged
Toy the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, on the Wash-
ington Branch of said road, and to re-enact the same with,
amendments.
