CHAPTER 151.
AN ACT to incorporate the town of Crisfield, in
Somerset county, Maryland.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the inhabitants of the town of Cris-
field, in Somerset county, are hereby made and
declared a body corporate, with all privileges of a
body corporate, by the name of the Commissioners
of Crisfield, and by that name may sue and be sued,
have and use a common seal, and have perpetual
succession.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners shall be five in number, and each commis-
sioner, except those elected at the first election of
commissioners, as hereinafter provided, shall hold his office for five years, unless sooner vacated by
death, resignation, removal, or otherwise, and any
person to be eligible as a commissioner, must bo the
owner of a freehold or leasehold estate within the
limits of said town, and must have resided in the
State one year, and have received or carried on their-
principal business or occupation within the town
limits six months preceding his or their election.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the male citizens.
of said town over twenty-one years of age, who have
resided therein twelve months preceding any elec-
tion, and all male citizens over twenty-one years of
age, residing in the county of Somerset, and owning
a freehold estate or leasehold property for a term
exceeding two years within the limits of the said
town, shall, on the first Wednesday in April, in the
yew eighteen hundred, and seventy-two, elect five com-
missioners for said town, and each of the said com-
missioners then elected shall hold Ins office in tie
following manner, and for the following term, to
wit: the oldest person then elected shall hold his.
