shall embrace all that portion of said city not in-
cluded in the first -ward, and the election polls therein
shall be held at the court house, and shall be called
the " second ward polls."
24. The male citizens of the age of twenty-one
years, who have resided in the City of Cumberland
one year next preceding the election, shall, on the
second Monday of May} in each year, in their respec-
tive wards in said city, elect one person residing in
said city, and having real and personal property
therein to the value of five hundred dollars, Mayor
of the City of Cumberland.
25. The persons qualified as required by the pre-
ceding section, shall also in like manner elect six
persons, who shall have resided in said city one year
next preceding said election, and who shall be as-
sessed on the books of said city to a sum not less
than one hundred dollars, as Councilmen of said
city.
26. The Mayor and Councilmen of the City of
Cumberland shall appoint for each of said polls
three Judges of Election, who shall have power to
appoint Clerks, and conduct the elections in all re-
spects as elections for members of the General As-
sembly are required to be conducted, opening the
polls at nine o'clock in the morning, and closing
them at six o'clock in the evening; and the said
Judges and Clerks shall receive the same compensa-
tion as Judges and Clerks of Election in Allegany
county, to he paid by the said city.
