LAWS OF MARYLAND.
CHAPTER 88.
AN ACT to amend the charter of the "Continental
Fire and Marine Insurance Company of Balti-
more," to change its corporate name, and to cure
certain irregularities in the original organization
thereof.
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Maryland, by
an Act passed at their session of eighteen hundred
and sixty-eight, chapter thirty-eight, incorporating
the " Continental Fire and Marine Insurance Com-
pany of Baltimore," with the powers and privileges.
thereby conferred, or intended to be conferred, and
whereas, the said company so incorporated was not
organized in precise conformity with the provisions
of said Act, whereby doubts have arisen touching
the validity of its corporate acts, contracts and en-
gagements.
SECTION 1. Be if enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all the acts of the Corporators named
in said Act of eighteen hundred and sixty-eight,
chapter thirty-eight, and of their Assignees, in organ-
izing said corporation, be and the same are hereby
declared to be in all respects valid and effectual, as
if the said organization of said company had been in
every particular in precise conformity with the pro-
visions of said Act, and that all the outstanding con-
tracts, policies and obligations of said company be
and they are hereby declared to be as valid and
binding in law, as if the organization of said com-
pany had in all respects been forma) and regular.
SEC. 2. And he it enacted, That the corporate name
of said company be and the same is hereby declared
to be the Continental Fire Insurance Company of
Baltimore, instead of the " Continental Fire and
Marine Insurance Company of Baltimore," by which
amended name it shall have all the rights and privi-
leges contained in the original Act of eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, chapter thirty-eight, except in
so far as the same may be modified by this Act.
