LAWS OF MARYLAND.
extension of said street or avenue, proceed to lay oft'
the same to such a point beyond two miles from the
line of said city as shall be designated in such appli-
cation, and in laying off any main street or streets,
avenue or avenues, or any extension thereof, leading
out of the City of Baltimore, the said Street Com-
missioners may lay off the same or any part or parts
thereof, from the limits of the city to the terminus of
such street or avenue, as proposed to be extended, of
such width as in their judgment the public conveni-
ence may require; and all such notices shall be given
and proceedings had and taken in reference to the
laying off and condemnation and grading and paving
of any such extended street or avenue as are required
by the provisions of said Act of eighteen hundred
and seventy, chapter ninety-nine, to be given, had
and taken in reference to the streets, avenues, squares
and alleys within the limits of two miles from the
line of Baltimore city.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That whenever any street,
avenue, square or alley shall hereafter be laid off and
condemned, and opened under the provisions of said
Act of eighteen hundred and seventy, chapter ninety-
nine, or of this Act, and whenever the owner or
owners of the majority of front feet of ground bound-
ing and fronting on said street, avenue, square or
alley, or any part or parts thereof, shall petition,
under the provisions of said original Act, for the
grading, paving or making of the same, the said
owner or owners may designate in such petition the
nature and character of the material to be used in
the construction of the said street, avenue, square or
alley, and also the manner and material in and with
which the same shall be guttered, curbed or other-
wise constructed, and the said Street Commissioners,
in proceeding to advertise for proposals and to con-
tract for the making of said street, avenue, square or-
alley, as provided by said original Act, shall adopt
the mode of construction of such street, avenue,
square or alley and the material to be used therein
as shall be designated in said petition, and the cost
of such construction shall be levied and assessed as
provided by said Act.
