1872.] OF THE SENATE. 795 Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays, as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Jump, Compton, Longwell, Claggett, Miller, Denson, Spates, Downs, Sellman, Dennis, Spencer, Earle, Steiner, Fields, Wilson—16. NEGATIVE—None. Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates. Mr. Spates moved to proceed to business in regular alpha- betical order. Which was adopted. Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported favorably on The House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claims of Kelly, Piet & Co. Which was read the second time. Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported favorably on The House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comp- troller to settle the claim of Laurence D. Deitz and William A. Tolly. Which was read the second time. Mr. Fields submitted the following message : BY THE SENATE, April 1st, 1872. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates : We propose with your concurrence, the appointment of a Joint Committee, to consist of two members of the Senate, and three members of the Houses to wait upon His Excel- lency, the Governor, and inform him that the General As- sembly propose to adjourn at 12 o'clock, midnight, and in- quire of him whether he has any further communition to make to them. We have appointed on part of the Senate, Messrs. Fields and Compton. By order, AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY, Secretary. |
