794 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Apl. 1, Having resumed Legislative business. On motion by Mr. Fields, The Senate took a recess until 8 1/2 o'clock, P. M. EVENING SESSION. MONDAY EVENING, April 29,—8 1/2- o'clock, P. M. The Senate met. Present the following Senators: Messrs. President, Compton, Claggett, Denson, Downs, Dennis, Fields, Jump, Longwell, Miller, Spates, Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Timmons, Wilson—16. On motion by Mr. Downs, it was Ordered by the Senate, that E. S. Riley, Jr., reporter of the Senate, be allowed the sum of three hundred dollars for his services, as reporter for the present Session. The House bill entitled an Act, entitled a supplement to an Act, entitled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore and Powhattan Railroad Company, passed at the January Ses- sion, 1870, chapter 496, to authorize said Road, to acquire by purchase or otherwise, the Hookstown and Pimlico and the Randallstown Branches of said Road, Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Jump, Compton, Longwell, Claggett, Miller, Denson, Spates, Downs, Sellman, Dennis, Steiner, Earle, Timmons, Fields, Wilson—16. NEGATIVE—None. Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates. The House bill entitled an Act to repeal the law imposing the State tax, known as the "Direct Tax," |
