FRIDAY, February 2, 1872.
Tlie House met, and was opened with prayer by the Chap-
lain.
Present at the call of the roll the-following members :
Messrs. Gorman, Speaker, Bond, Sparrow, Chapman, Stone,
Shipley, Foard, of Baltimore County, Spencer, Butler, Golds-
borough, Roach, Dougherty, Smith, Vickers, Radcliffe,
Groome, Mearns, Scott, Ford, of Queen Anne's, Franklin,-
Rowe, Riley, Baldwin, Streett, Hardcastle, Deweese, McCosker, Hamilton, C. R., Jamart, Stewart, Travers, Colton,
of Baltimore City, Kirk, Chaisty, Harig, McOolgan, Mark-
land, Ardinger, Whitson, Hilton, Biggs, dark, or Mont-
gomery, Coles, Robinette, Steele, Linthicum, Langrell—47.
Mr. Smith presented the petition of S. W. Woolford, and
other citizens of Dorchester county, remonstrating against
the repeal of the Inspection Law, passed 1870.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Inspec-
tions.
Mr. Jamart presented the petition of George Swinn, and
one hundred and thirteen other citizens, asking the abolish-
ment of coopering in the Penitentiary.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Manu-
factures.
Mr. Whitson presented the petition of Joseph Bernard,.
and nineteen other citizens of Washington county, asking
for an Act to enable the County Commissioners to build a
Court House.
Which was read and referred to a Select Committee al-
ready appointed on that subject.
Mr. Radcliffe presented the petition of Thomas E. Wright,,
and forty-seven other citizens of Dorchester county, asking
protection for fish in the head waters of said county.
Which was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation...
Mr. Jamart presented the petition of Rebecca McMakon,
widow of Alexander McMakon, asking to be restored to the-
State pension rolls.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.
