Mr. Blake submitted the following amendment to the amendment: AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Strike out the words: "To the Rev. Edward Brennan, to the use of the St. Edward's Academy, in the City of Cumber- land, to be applied to the support and education of free schools of said Academy, the sum of seven hundred and fifty dol- lars." The question on the adoption of the amendment to the amendment, was determined in the negative by yeas and nays, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Blake, Fields, ' Claggett, Timmons—4. NEGATIVE. Messrs. Compton, Spates, Carroll, Sellman, Downs, Spencer, Earle, Tuck, Longwell, Wilson—10. Pending the consideration of said amendment, On motion by Fields, The Senate adjourned. |
