232 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. I,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to intro-
duce a bill, in favor of George C. Merrick, State's Attorney
for Prince George's county, for services rendered the State
of Maryland.
On motion of Mr. Jamart,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Manufactures to
introduce a bill, to repeal section 2, of chapter 266, of the
Act of 1870, entitled "Oils for Illuminating Purposes," and
re-enact the same with amendments.
Mr. Stone, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to repeal an Act passed at the Jan-
uary Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, chapter
ninety-eight, entitled an Act to prevent the selling or ped-
dling carriages, hacks, gigs and buggy wagons, &c., in
Washington county, not manufactured In the State of Mary-
land.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Porter, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to enable or advise the County
Commissioners of Allegany county, under Article I. of the
Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Allegany County," un-
der the head of County Commissioners, to appoint a County
Treasurer to receive and disburse the county taxes under
their orders, by adding after section 20 of the said Article 1.,
the following sub-sections thereto.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Wells, Chairman of n Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to add an additional section to
Article II. of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Anne-
Arundel County," sub-title "Annapolis," to prevent the car-
rying of concealed weapons in said city.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Linthicum, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to release William W. Watkins,
Josiah Grove, Benjamin H. Dorsey, J. Wolfersberger, S I1'.
Cobb, William B. Collier, Samuel Burgess, William H.
Scott, II. E. Wootton, George Burgess, Deal Helm and
Robert Wilton, secureties on the bond of Thomas McGrae,
