Duncan Smith, and others, Which was read the second time. Also, reported favorably on The House bill to pay the claims of Bartlett, Robbing & Co., and others, Which was read the second time. f The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal 'section 872, of Article IV., of the Public Local Laws of Baltimore City' entitled an Act to extend the limits of direct taxation of Bal- timore City, and to re-enact the following in lieu thereof, Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Spates, Carroll, Sellman, Claggett, Spencer, Downs, Steiner, Earle, Timmons, Fields, Wilson—13. Longwell, NEGATIVE—None. Said bill was then sent to the House of Delegates. The House bill making appropriations for the government for the year 1872, Being on its third reading. Mr. Steiner submitted the following amendment: Section 1, line 24, strike out "20," and insert "25." Which was adopted by yeas and nays, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Longwell, Carroll, Spates, Claggett, Spencer, Downs, Steiner, Dennis, Timmons, Earle, Wilson—12. NEGATIVE. Messrs. Compton, Stephenson, Fields, Sellman—4. |
