Which was read and referred to the Committee ou Cor-
porations.
Mr. Chaisty presented the petition of Ann Thomas, widow
of William Thomas, ashing to bo reinstated on the pension
rolls.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-sions.
Mr. Hardcastle presented the petition of Amelia M. Buck
and twenty-eight others, asking for a law to prevent the sale
of intoxicating liquor.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following message:
BY THE SENATE,
January 31, 1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of five, two"
on the part of the Senate and three on the part of the House,
to visit the Governor, at his mansion, and ascertain if there
is any thing required in the furnishing of the mansion that
will add to the comfort of himself and family.
We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs.
Blake and Fields.

Secretary.
Which was read.
Mr. dark, of Baltimore City, submitted the following mes-
sage :
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
February 1, 1872.
Gentlemen of the Senate :
We have received your message proposing the appointment
of a Joint Special Committee of five, two on the part of the®
Senate and three on the part of the House, to visit the Gov-
ernor, at his mansion, and ascertain if any thing is required
in the furnishing of the mansion, &c.
We concur therein, and have appointed Messrs. Clark, of
Baltimore City, Ford, of (Queen Anne's, and Penington.
